Gathering Rain
Nína Óskarsdóttir
The water trickles down the stoneware clay, from one vessel to another. Slowly but surely they start to fill up, if it rains this autumn. Rainwater, the basis for life, seeps through the sediments, nourishing plants and animals. It is in the middle of its cyclical journey, carrying the wisdom of the skies before gathering here, pausing for a while and then continuing. Nína Óskarsdóttir graduated with an MA in fine arts from Iceland University of the Arts in 2020, where she also completed her BA in 2014. Alongside the MA studies she took evening classes in the ceramics department of The Reykjavík School of Visual arts and has dedicated her practice to clay after her studies. Nína has taken part in a number of exhibitions both in Iceland and abroad, most recently the group show Vitamin-D in Hafnarhús, Reykjavík Art Museum and the Solo show Source in The Icelandic Folk and Outsider Art Museum.
