Restrained Spark
Ragnhildur Weisshappel
Ragnhildur Weisshappel exhibits new pieces made from sugar cubes and plaster. On this exhibition Ragnhildur places seemingly random objects together and listens to what they are saying with trembling patience. Mechanical precision, experimental imperfections, leftovers on a pedestal and coincidences are among the things that define Ragnhildur Weisshappel's artistic practice. She ponders different ways and contemplates the endless possibilities. Ragnhildur offers support to the viewer's imagination to see the possibilities. The title of the exhibition refers to a process when the artist brings an idea into some kind of form and needs to stay on topic.
Ragnhildur Weisshappel (b. 1989) studied art in Iceland and France. She works in all kinds of media and uses it as a tool to translate from one thing to another. She has partaken in numerous group exhibitions in museums and exhibition spaces in Iceland and abroad. Restrained spark is her third solo exhibition. Ragnhildur lives and works in Svarfaðardalur, north of Iceland.
