String of Pearls is the women‘s sculpture garden at the south end of The Pond in Pavilion Park, inaugurated in 2014. Of the multitude of artworks in Reykjavík‘s public spaces, only a few are created by women. Until 1990, there were only seven but their numbers is gradually rising. The role of women in the development of of Icelandic sculpture is sometimes overlooked, and String of Pearls is meant to address this omission.
