Yellow dream

YELLOW DREAM - Recurring Dream - 1 invites you to explore the fleeting qualities of dreams and the transience of life. This participatory performance exhibition celebrates the Icelandic summer, the endless sun, and the surreal feelings it evokes.

The exhibition features cyanotype-developed photographs that capture the sun’s beauty as metaphors for fleeting moments, emphasizing the connection between light and time. At the center of the space is a table covered with a cyanotype-chemical-infused tablecloth beneath a transparent plastic overlay. Adorned with dishes in shades of white and yellow, the table offers treats that may appear sweet but could surprise your taste buds with saltiness or sourness. Visitors are encouraged to embrace this unpredictability, reflecting the surprises found in dreams.

On the opening day, the artist will wear a costume inspired by a summer flower meadow, incorporating plants into the design. Visitors will be offered yellow drinks with dream-like names such as “Dreamland.” The treats on the table provide a multisensory experience, encouraging visitors to participate and reflect, becoming a part of the artwork. The tablecloth serves as a physical representation of the interaction between art and visitors, preserving memories of the experience. As visitors move or remove items, they shape the tablecloth’s image, highlighting the dialogue between the artwork and its audience.

After the opening, the tablecloth will be displayed on a wall alongside a screen showing a video of the opening performance. The table will be removed, leaving only clean vessels, glasses, and cutlery arranged on the floor. The exhibition transforms from a performance to interaction and finally to an installation, mirroring the ephemeral nature of dreams.

“A YELLOW DREAM” explores dreams, light, and the ephemeral beauty of life, with the tablecloth acting as a time capsule that preserves fleeting moments and maintains the dialogue between art and audience.
