Muur
MUUR is located in Höfn, in Hornafjörður. MUUR is a non-traditional exhibition space that can be found inside a home as well as at one wall of the Cultural Center in Nýheimar, and occasionally as a pop-up exhibition outdoors. The goal is to attract the interest and attention of art lovers and those who practice art to Höfn. Höfn is home to the Svavarssafn-art museum, which was built in memory of Svavar Guðnason, one of Iceland’s most beloved abstract painters and also one of the Cobra group. We at MUUR want to connect those who care about art. Our theory is that good things happen slowly, and the intention is to extend beyond the space and frame and utilise open air areas in selected locations where appropriate. MUUR opened the day COVID visited, but the decision was made to start anyway with the exhibition of Hlynur Hallsson. Since then, there have been five exhibitions in the space (see below), and three exhibitions are planned for 2023.
